6 Essential Tips to Maximize Efficiency on Your Computer and Cellphone!

Computers and cellphones have become an essential part of our lives, and they are packed with useful capabilities that may make routine activities easier. For example, search operators can make conducting a Google search easier, and certain keyboard shortcuts can spare users from having to walk the long route. Other features, such as the Night Light on Windows, are intended to safeguard users from the possibly negative consequences of staring at displays all day.

Some of the most critical functionalities of computers and cellphones are not well known. Tweaking the settings of apps you use on a regular basis can make a big difference, from giving yourself more time to delete emails to using speech-to-text to help you type. Here are some fundamental tips to make life easier.

1.Make It Possible to Unsend Emails in Gmail for Longer

Gmail's Undo Send tool can be extremely useful, especially when users realize they've made a mistake after pressing the send button. By default, the 'Undo Send' button appears for five seconds after an email is sent, which may not be sufficient for some users. The good news is that users may expand the Undo Send window from Gmail on PCs.

In Gmail, click the settings button in the upper right corner and choose 'See all settings.' Look for the 'Undo Send' option and select one of the options from the 'Send cancelation period' menu: 10, 20, or 30 seconds.

2 .Use Google Search Operators!

Users who are having problems finding relevant Google Search results can benefit from unique commands known as search operators. Users can use these operators to improve the precision of their searches. For example, the'site:' operator retrieves specific results from a certain website. Typing "site:screenrant.com" For example, 'Apple Vision Pro' will list all articles published on the website that have the Apple Vision Pro keyword. Then there's the '-' operator, which can find results that exclude a particular word.

Another search operator is 'weather: place name.' Simply enter the location name to view the weather prediction for that precise spot. The 'before:' and 'after:' operators can be used to search for records relating to a specific date. To offer a clear idea, type "site:screenrant.com" Apple Vision Pro after:2023-03-10 -iPhone' returns all results that contain the keyword Apple Vision Pro, were published after March 10, 2023, and do not include the term iPhone.

3 .Mute An Annoying Email Thread!

Email threads can be frustrating, especially when multiple employees are constantly responding to the same email trail. Fortunately, Gmail allows users to mute email threads to avoid needless notifications. To do this, open the email thread, tap the three dots at the top of the interface, and then click 'Mute' from the list of alternatives. Users can access the chat by selecting the 'All Mail' option from the left sidebar.

4 .Learn These Keyboard Shortcuts!

Keyboard shortcuts are another technology hack that simplifies consumers' lives. On Windows, the most common are 'Ctrl + C' for copying, 'Ctrl + V' for pasting, and 'Ctrl + X' for cutting. Keyboard shortcuts, on the other hand, allow users to accomplish much more. For example, hitting 'Windows + D' navigates to the desktop, pressing the Spacebar scrolls down a webpage, and clicking 'Shift + Spacebar' scrolls up. Pressing 'Cmd + 2' in macOS Finder navigates to list view, 'Cmd + 3' to column view, and 'Cmd + 4' to gallery view.

To reopen previously closed tabs in Google Chrome, Windows users can hit 'Ctrl + Shift + T,' while macOS users can press 'Cmd + Shift + T'. Similarly, Windows users can get to the downloads page by hitting 'Ctrl + J,' while macOS users can use 'Cmd + Shift + J.' Windows users can open the history page by using 'Ctrl + H,' while macOS users can use 'Cmd + Y.' Last but not least, hitting 'Ctrl + L' immediately launches the search bar and allows users to write rapid commands.

5 .Offer Guests With A QR Code For Sharing Wi-Fi!

This is a more effective tip for Android users. Instead of manually providing the Wi-Fi password, Android users can create a QR code that allows other users to join the network. Simply go to the Wi-Fi network menu in Settings, tap the settings icon next to the name of the connected Wi-Fi network, and then press the 'QR code' option at the bottom. To join the network, go to the Wi-Fi settings menu and tap the scanner button in the top right corner of the screen. Then, scan the code.

Apple devices have a similar capability that allows a network user to share their password with someone who wishes to join.

6 .Use Speech-To-Text For Typing!

Several word-processing software provide speech-to-text functionality, which might be useful if users are unable or unable to type manually. The capability is available in both MS Word and Google Docs, and they work perfectly. Windows users must first enable Online Speech Recognition from the Settings menu before pressing the 'Start + H' key to utilize it. To enable voice typing in Google Docs, use the shortcut 'Ctrl + Shift + S'.

On macOS, go to 'Apple menu > System Settings > Keyboard,' then pick Dictation and enable it. To begin dictation after enabling the functionality, place the cursor at the insertion point and tap the microphone icon, if available on the function keys. Otherwise, select 'Edit > Start Dictation.'
